New pages: The July-August 1910 Caen meeting!
The Caen meeting was not one of the richest and biggest of 1910, but still attracted famous pilots Léon Morane, Émile Aubrun, Marcel Hanriot, Robert Martinet and a handful of others, while Antoinette pilot René Labouchère dropped out at the last moment. It was the first meeting where more than a cou...

New pages: The July-August 1910 Brussels/Stockel meeting!
The first Belgian aviation meeting of 1910 was one of the events organised on the fringes of the 1910 World Exposition. It was held over two weeks at a racecourse in Stockel, southwest of Brussels. http://www.thefirstairraces.net/meetings/st1007/images/poster345.jpg A field of ten Belgian pilots con...

Re: Research info about HF II with number 11
Hi Anthony, and welcome to the forum!
A nice photo, thanks for posting! It looks very much like the machine that Russian pilot Michel Efimoff flew during the first days of the April 1910 Nice meeting - see this page! Later during the meeting it was repainted with a larger race number.

New pages: The July 1910 Baden-Baden meeting!
This was a three-day meeting, organized in waiting for the start of Zeppelin services at the Baden-Oos airfield outside the famous spa town. Only three pilots (Emil Jeannin, Adolf Behrend and Stefano Amerigo) participated, and only the two former made flights of any length. You will find the pages h...

New pages: The July 1910 Wiener Neustadt meetings!
The first two aviation meetings of Austria were held over four Sundays in July 1910. They were national meetings, restricted to flyers based at the Wiener Neustadt airfield, but this included most known Austrian constructors and pilots. http://www.thefirstairraces.net/meetings/wn1007/images/poster34...

Re: Hayden Sands
Hi Walt, and welcome to the forum! I don't know all that much about Sands, but the aviation magazines reported that the "New York sportsman" was the first person that ordered a Blériot XI after the Channel fllight. This obviously never came through and he bought an Antoinette instead. He a...

1909 Douai Meeting - pages updated!
The Douai pages were among the first to be published, six and a half years ago. During the years I've found some more old aviation magazines, and Gallica have published more old newspapers, so I decided to update them. The result is around 80 percent more text and a handful of new or improved photos...
