1911 Heliopolis meeting?

Hi Flugsport and welcome to the forum! To my understanding the 1910 meeting was the only one in Heliopolis. Even in February the desert climat with dust, thermals and sandstorms made it difficult for the airplanes of that time. Except in Germany the European Wright operations were more or less dead ...

1910 Lyon Aviation Week pages launched!

Hi everybody! Some moments ago I launched the pages about the Semaine d*aviation de Lyon, which took place on May 7th - 15th, 1910. It was one of the big international meetings of the French season, but it was heavily afflicted by bad weather, accidents and incidents. The most serious accident claim...

May 1910 St Petersburg meeting - help wanted!

Hi everybody! For different reasons I lost a bit of tempo this spring, but the pages about the 1910 Lyon meeting will soon be ready for loading. This means the next one will be the St Petersburg meeting, which started one day later on May 8th and attracted six pilots: Joseph Christiaens, Léon Morane...

I can't say I completely understand the reason for the problems, but they might have to do with recent changes to Google Maps.

I've now updated the URLs for all the embedded maps. I hope it solves the problems - if not please report!

Airfield maps don't work

The embedded course maps on the "Venue" pages don't display anymore. I don't know why, but it may be that Google Maps have made some changes. I'm not at home today, but I'll investigate this as soon as possible.

Re: New pilot pages - and some css tweeks...

May I please reproduce the poster and two of the pilot pictures from the 1910 Heliopolis page in a powerpoint presentation that I am giving next week? You're welcome! I believe all images are in the public domain and if you're interested in the original sources you can find them on the "Refere...

The true identity of "Hauvette-Michelin"

"Hauvette-Michelin" flew an Antoinette in the Heliopolis and La Crau meetings in early 1910 and was killed in an accident at the Lyon meeting in May 1910, becoming the sixth pilot to die in an air accident. His first name was never mentioned in contemporary reports, which made it likely th...

Re: The true identity of "Edmond"

And here's the proof: See this page of the Orléans newspaper "Journal du Loiret", 17-18 January 1910 : Aéro-Club du Centre L'aviateur Edmond Morelle Un des membres de l' Aéro-Club du Centre, M. Edmond Morelle, vient de prendre livraison, aux usines du camp de Châlons, d'un aéroplane Farman...
